Maybe you’ve always wanted to be a cowboy or a cowgirl. Maybe you’re already one and you just need an easy costume. Or maybe you’re just looking for an excuse to buy those awesome cowboy boots you’ve been eyeing but don’t have any logical reason to buy them. We present to you: a logical reason to buy cowboy boots. Cowboy costumes are awesome. Because you can wear them and say stereotypical cowboy things like, “yee-haw” and “I gotta go see a man about a horse,” where the man is your friend’s Halloween party and the horse is a beer. Need some more convincing? Play Red Dead Redemption then try to tell me that you don’t want to be a cowboy. Yeah. That’s what I thought.
So you’ve figured out what you want to be for Halloween. The hardest part is over. Breathe a sigh of relief and then come back.
Ready? Okay. Now all you need is the costume. Well, yipee-ki-yay and get along little doggie and all that stuff. You’ve found the perfect place to find everything you need.
Boots. They’re the most important part of a cowboy/cowgirl costume. You can’t get all cowboy-ed out from head until almost-toe. Nobody will accept you as the horse-riding, cow-rustling badass you really are if you show up at that party wearing sneakers. In fact, they’ll probably laugh at you and send you home because that’s just wrong.
For a simple western boot, try the Laredo Men’s 12-in Paris Boot in Tan Distressed or the Laredo Women’s 11-in Kadi Boot in Tan Distressed boots. Both styles feature a simple design that will compliment any cowboy or cowgirl costume.
Those boots too plain for you? Looking for something a little more flashy? Maybe something that says, “I’m going to wear the crap outta these boots because I’m awesome!” Check out the Ariat Men’s Mesteno or the Ariat Women’s Big City boots! The bright colors and fun designs will add enough pizzazz to make you the life of the party. Just don’t say pizzazz. I’m pretty sure neither cowboys or cowgirls ever say pizzazz.
Despite what those “sexy cowgirl” costumes want you to believe, most cowgirls don’t closely resemble those of a less…honorable profession, if you know what I mean. A good pair of blue jeans, or even a pair of comfy denim overalls, are all you need to look like a bona-fide cowgirl. *Bonus: You won’t have to worry about accidentally flashing your goods whenever you sit down. Instead, you can get comfy in the Dickies Women’s Bib Overalls or the Carhartt Women’s Modern Fit Straight Leg Jeans!
When it comes to tops, you can never go wrong with plaid. That can, of course, be said for every day, not just Halloween. Men will be saying, “howdy partner” in the Ariat Weston Shirt, while the ladies will be galloping for joy in the Carhartt Annapolis Button-Front Shirt.
I know I said that the boots were the most important part of your western costume, but I totally lied. It’s the hat. And we’ve got the perfect hat to wear on Halloween–the Occunomix Hard Hat Cowboy Style! That’s right, it’s a hard hat AND a cowboy hat. So when you get really drunk at your friend’s Halloween party, you won’t have to worry about waking up with a giant bump on your head and a possible concussion. This hat will totally take care of you. It won’t, however, prevent you from waking up in the middle of a drained pool in a stranger’s backyard. That’s all on you.
Now, put that costume on and hit the dusty trails!
